Combining a set minimum price with a portion of the sales revenue going to the local society for social activities, fair trade helps to improve the living conditions of numerous small-scale farmers in India. Organic raw cotton production is increasingly combined with fair-trade activities.
All cotton in India is handpicked and the majority is roller ginned.
Fairtrade Labelling Organization (FLO) International standards are predominant in India’s fair trade market, but other standards are also applied. |
